Alan Savage

Executive Director

Mr Savage is a professional biologist and expert in crustacean culture systems. He has post graduate qualifications (MSc) in Zoology from The University of Western Australia, specialising in ecology and taxonomy of Australian brine shrimp. He has substantial commercial experience in microalgal mass culture systems and in fermentation technology for mass culture of agricultural micro-organisms.

He has been project leader for a number of substantial research projects that have examined the commercial potential for mass culture of various crustaceans. He is an expert in high-density culture systems for various crustaceans, including recirculation technology, automation and behavioural and physiological management of crustaceans.

With a strong background in microbiology, micro algal and crustacean ecology he will make a valuable contribution to environmental management components of the various WKL projects.
